All shook up

We survived a 6.5! Actually I think it was a 6.6 but 6.5 rhymed. We started the morning with a bang. Around 7:00am our whole house started shaking and we scooped up are kids and ran for cover. We've never experienced anything like it. It was really pretty scary- got our hearts pumping! We've had over 20 aftershocks. Most of them we didn't feel but there was one that was a 5.8 which sent us running for the doorways again. It was really something. The house felt like jello the floor moved like a wave. I have some small pumpkins out as decoration and they fell on the floor and "rode the wave"- my kitchen floor- at least that’s what it looked like to me. They were rolling all over the house. We have a 6 foot cement wall outside and it crumbled to the ground. I put some pictures in. You'll notice that in one of the pictures only one side of the wall is down then Lance touched the other wall and it fell too. We have some cracks in our wall in the house but other then that we are fine. Our neighbors had two TVs fall and break along with some china. There are lots of land slides and rocks and boulders in the roads. Roads are closed and things are kinds of a mess. Our hospital has been deemed "structurally unsound" and patience are being treated outside of the hospital. Church was canceled and it has really been an exciting day.

Eli has been playing "earthquake" all day. We stood in the bathroom doorway during the earthquake so he's been yelling Earthquake! and then running to the bathroom. Once he even saved Isaac and pushed him and his walker into the bathroom. He was a hero. Anyway- we just wanted to share our excitement with you it was quite the experience.

I'm so glad you're all ok. That's amazing. Will they hold school today?

Yes, Lance is really sad about it too. There was a lot of damage to his shop. He is afraid they will shut it down.

Wow! Thanks for the pictures. I'm glad only the retaining wall gave up...not the beams holding up the upstairs apt. Well..that will be something you'll remember about Hawaii..(riding the wave)
