Hawk in a box

We went to do the chores the other day and after feeding the cows and horses we went to collect the chicken eggs and what do you think we saw in the chicken coop? Not just chicken eggs but a gaggle of cowering chickens because there was a hawk in the coop!!!! We think when he flew in to get one of the poor chickens he some how tripped the chicken door and got trapped at the same time. He got one of the chickens. The poor thing was walking around with a big hole in it. Kind of like the hawk ate the the chicken breast while it was still alive.. EEEWWW... poor thing.
Here Lance is after catching the scared thing. They have surprisingly sharp beaks and claws.

This is the kids looking at Lance holding the Hawk. They were pretty impressed.

And here is a hawk in a box. They put it in a box, so he wouldn't peck their eyes out, and drove it far away and let it go. If he comes back they'll have to kill him. Leave our chickens alone!
I thought it would be funny to put a bow on the box and ding dong ditch someone..HEHE Okay it wouldn't really be funny, but it sure would be a surprise for the poor person who opened the box.
