Family Reunion

The annual Rencher family reunion 2009
So it began... with canoe strapped to the top and back of car chucked full Lance and I with kids in tow took off Wednesday afternoon so that we could go to the Rexburg temple Wednesday night and then to the reunion, in Island Park Idaho, on Thursday. As Lance and I have learned over the years when you try to go to the temple everything seams to go wrong and true to form we had several calamities on this trip.
First there was so much road construction that our 4 hour trip turned into 7 1/2 fun filled hours of "Are we there yet? I have to go potty. Why are we stopped? I have to go potty! Why wont those guys let us go? I HAVE TO GO POTTY..." and on and on. We even have a road construction song now. It is called Orange Barrels- you should have us sing it to you sometime. So we showed up too late for the temple that night.
The next morning low and behold... we have a flat tire- due to road construction from previous day.
Got that fixed and we find out that the Rexburg temple is closed for cleaning. My brother in Law Steve finally says... just quick go before anything else bad happens! My sister in law and I ended up going to the Idaho Falls temple while the boys babysat and went to the junk yard... don't ask why.

Then we headed up to the reunion
And had so much fun...
We jet skied

Played on the floating trampoline, visited with all the 70 family members there and had a grand ol time.

Two days later when it was time to go all packed up with goodbyes said... guess what...our car wont start!! There goes the canoe trip down the river we have a car to fix now. Several hours and a run from Lance brother for a fuel pump later we were ready to go. In the process of fixing the car I discovered a mouse scurrying under one of the seats!!! (CRINGE) We think it must of got in the car with the camping stuff we packed. (gag gag) We couldn't find it though so we had to just keep on driving with it somewhere in my car!!! (Heebegebeez) We headed back to Rexburg to spend the night at Lance's brothers with the rest of his siblings. I spend the entire drive flinching with every breeze of air brushing my foot thinking it is the mouse.

This was the first time the whole family has been together in 6 years so we snapped a picture. Aren't we cute?

One of just Lance and siblings
And another with just the grand kids.

And now... for the really disturbing part of the trip... brace yourself. As we were packing up to go we discover the mouse had babies under Isaac's car seat!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

This picture seriously makes me want to vomit!!! 12 pink discusting baby mice on the seat of my car!! BLAHHHHHHH! I cleaned the whole car out the day we left for the trip, placed a towel under Isaac's chair to protect the seat and apparently it made a nice cozy place for a mouse to have a baby. This picture was taken only 3 days after I put the towel down. Can you imagine what would happen if we didn't discover them??? There would be 12 mice running around my car!!!!

It was fun but I sure am glad to be home!

You always make even the most frustrating and unexpected events an adventure that sounds so fun we all want to come along with you. Lets face it, I have never had pet baby mice come along on any of our vacations!
